Los Azules (Giclée Print)
Working on this painting required such a delicate hand and a lot of contemplation, staring at the painting, and waiting for the next-steps to emerge quietly from the field. The decision to add two floating flowers asked for a level of assertion that I don’t usually entertain in my work. The flowers echo each other, but also create a narrative arc, from bloom to wilt. While working on this painting, I experienced the work as a portal into the field of grief and melancholy, but also what those states reveal about the exquisite pain of living.
