Magnolias for Mama (Giclée Print)

$170.00

Made in honor of my beautiful mother, Gloria Martha Caro. She loved flowers, especially magnolias and planted several different varieties in the yard of my childhood home.

I made this flower series as a way of processing my grief after my mom’s death in 2014. The flowers retain their beauty, but placed against a black background, they are visibly removed from the rest of the plant and source of life. The blackness represents the void of sadness, absence, and also the mystery of where her spirit has gone.

Printed locally by University of Michigan professor Patrick Young. Hand-signed and numbered.
